Step two – reset.

And refresh.

4 years

Refresh our relationship with each other. Refresh our relationship with our planet.

Principle 1 – Take back control.

The Earth is ours. Somehow it got lost, sold and abused. But it’s ours. We will take it back.

All land, the sea, and everything under the surface comes back to public ownership and cannot ever be sold.

With ownership comes responsibility. It will be up to your local community to decide how it is used and allocated depending on local priorities.

Principle 2 – Level up.

We all own the earth we inhabit.

Historic debts disappear.

Future generations and nature are given the recognition they deserve. Their interests are represented, and their rights respected as if they are alive and articulate today.

Principle 3 - Sustainable foundations.

To prepare for Re-start, we must bring the carbon footprint of every person comfortably and consistently below 1 tonne CO2e per year.

1 tonne per person per year, all in, everything, absolute maximum.

That figure must include all the essentials: Food, clean water, sanitation, health care, and power for heat, light, transport and communication.

Principle 4 – One planet.

It’s obvious. We only have one planet. Our choice between a habitable planet and an inhabitable one depends on all of us co-operating.

Historic borders and boundaries, secular and ideological divisions have not served us well and will kill us.

None of us have the complete answer, but all of us hold part of it.

This will be an intense programme of legal and constitutional change, and infrastructure change; insulating houses, updating heating systems, transport systems and communication systems.

We will need to innovate like never before though, because we have to do it with what we already have.

2028 is the deadline.
